JAATYADI GHRITA : AS POTENT WOULD HEALING AGENT IN DIABETIC ANIMAL MODEL

Diabetes is a disease of altered glucose homeostasis and persistent hyperglycemia lead to advanced glycation end product (AG E) which are primarily responsible for the damage of cells which have a slow turn over (like neuronal tissue). This abnormality results in poor wound healing. Further hyperglycemic complication leads to wound infection. Wound management is a significant and growing health burden on the community. In the Indian context, the formal descriptions of wound care have been vividly elaborated in the three great treatises (Brahatrayi) of Ayurveda viz. Charaka Samhita.

Sushruta Samhita and Astanga Sangraha. Some of the herbal drugs with proven antidibetic and wound healing activity are Jaati (Jasminum 0fficinale linn). Neem (Azadirachta indica AJuss),Patol (Trichiosanthes dioica. Roxb),Haridra (Curcuma longs linn.) The present work is aimed to standardize and to evaluate the diabetic wound healing activity of poly herbal formulation, JAATYADI GHRITA containing these herbs. The work also includes Evaluation of Physicochemical Parameters, Phytochemical screening, Quantitative estimation of identified phytoconstituents using HPTLC & HPLC analysis and in~vitro antimicrobial studies. This will act as a referential source of infomtation for researchers who have  interest in the relevant field.

CINNAMON AS ANTI MICROBIAL AGENT

Hands are primary mode of transmission of microbes and infections. Through hand hygiene a simple and least expensive means of prevent health care associated infections specially derived from environmental surfaces. The present research was aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of Cinnamon oil extract found that it showed better antimicrobial activity. Also the research was carried out to formulate and evaluate the Hand wash gel containing Cinnamon oil. The anti-microbial activity of the formulated hand wash gel was tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacilius subtilis and pseudomonas vulagaris by spread plate techniques and the results obtained were compared with standard antibiotic.

DNA FINGERPRINTING

Medicinal plants have been used universally since ancient days to sustain health and to treat diseases. However, adulteration and use of specious materials as substitutes have become a major apprehension for users and industry for reasons of safety and efficacy. Therefore, authentication of medicinal plants is of utmost importance. Morphological, anatomical, chemical and DNA markers solve the problem by differentiating the genuine material from the adulterants, substitutes and spurious drugs.
